About OFC cable Armour / Unaromur

An Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) is a high-speed networking cable that transmits data as light pulses through thin strands of glass or plastic, rather than using electrical signals over copper. It offers significantly higher bandwidth, faster speeds, and less signal loss over long distances.

Inner Components

Loose Tube Material: Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) or similar high-modulus plastic, filled with thixotropic (gel) water-blocking compound.
Central Strength Member: Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) rod or steel wire with polyethylene coating to prevent buckling.
Filling Compound: Thixotropic jelly compound to prevent longitudinal water penetration.
Water Blocking Elements: Water-swellable yarn or tapes applied over the loose tubes.
Armouring & Inner Sheath
- Armouring: Corrugated ECCS (Electrolytic Chrome Coated Steel) Tape or Stainless Steel Alloy 304, typically

- Ripcord: Polyester cords or plastic threads, placed under the sheath for easy stripping.
- Glass Roving Yarn: Impregnated glass roving used for tensile strength and rodent protection.
- Temperature Range: Operation, storage, and installation often within -30C to +70C.
- Tensile Strength: IEC 60794-1-2-E1 standard, often exceeding 1500N-2670N.
- Crush Resistance: IEC 60794-1-2-E3, typically 2000N/10cm or higher.
